Pilates Reformer Classes

Group Pilates Reformer Classes

These classes typically have 5 people in them. They are 45-minutes long. The Pilates Reformer is the apparatus used.

The class emphasis is on rhythmic, flowing sets of movements which increase strength, flexibility and stamina while also improving alignment, balance, coordination and tone. The result of the workout is a uniformly developed body with strong back and abdominal muscles. There are countless different movements in the Group Pilates Reformer classes and these are performed seated, standing, on all fours, or lying on your back, side or front.

There is a JumpStart Pilates Class prerequisite for this class. Please also note that Group Pilates Reformer classes are open to all members on a first-to-reserve-online, first-served basis. You must be in good health with no special considerations (or with teacher approval) to take this class. That said, drop-ins are permitted subject to space being available.

Please read up on our Pilates Class Policies.

For safety reasons those students who have not done a Group Pilates Reformer class before at JoyMoves must be there by the time the class starts. All other students are allowed a 5-minute late window.

Group Pilates Reformer Class Types & Levels

  • Group Pilates Reformer – Level 1 (Beginner Level) – limit 5 students per class. This group Pilates class is for those new to Pilates or for those who desire to stay (or for their own safety ‘should’ stay) with the beginning exercises of Pilates. Additional exercises may be taught at the instructor’s discretion. The class is a full-body, level-appropriate workout.
  • Group Pilates Reformer – Level 2 (Intermediate Level) – limit 5 students per class. This Group Pilates Reformer class builds on the exercises from the Level 1 class. Before progressing to a higher level class you should be familiar with the Level 1 class order and exercise names, as well as be able to adequately perform the exercises at that level. This class level provides additional exercises and/or advancement of existing exercises. The exercises become more complex and challenging, and the pace of the class is faster – therefore more strength and stamina are required.
Instructor approval is required to participate in more advanced classes. Typically, it takes students 10 to 15 Level 1 classes before they’re ready to advance.
